Purgatory
He was called today for a chance to purify himself. He shone brightest in his waking days and even brighter during the star-filled nights. He was given a chance to go or stay, to breath a few more years in the right. We all were in disbelieve when chose to go instead. He said there was no way to make good on all he had done wrong.
It was sad. Did he not have a chance to correct his wrong? Was a change to go north what he was about? Vegas had the stronger odds, but only if he chose south. Of course Vegas knew him, so that wasn’t really fair. But boy, purgatory was really backed due to Covid so he sat there still waiting.
The east and west were where the the sun rose and lay, he loved this feeling of in between for only in the night did he belong. His demons tormented him, they played a tune with his heartstrings and even when he tried to cut them off, they would use his heart as a drum to beat.
The doors opened up again, this time the choices lay clear. They wanted him to stay, they begged him to stay, but it would only work if he was willing. He saw the highlighted doors pull him in but he turned his back ready to leave. Will he choose to go away or enter the doors this time and stay? Only he can tell.
