City Tree

City tree, yours is not an easy life. You did not ask to be born, yet you are here.
You didn’t want to be in the city, but you’re in the asphalt jungle,
I guess this wasn’t the life you wanted. You dreamed of hosting animals,
of being in the middle of the jungle, of giving life and breathing air, not pollen and exhaust gases.
I understand you, city tree, I also wanted a life different from this one,
but you don’t always manage to take what you want.
You have to settle for what you have and make it work; you have to survive.
And I will survive like you, city tree, two entities out of place,
but who are making a living because that’s the only thing they can do.
